Bucharest becomes the Capital of Animation Theater

Between the 13th and the 23rd of November, the 10th edition will take place

of the International Festival of Animation Theater "Collection shows"

Tandarica Theater announces the 10th edition of the International Festival of Animation Theater "Collectibles", which will take place from November 13 to 23.

This year's edition aligns over 60 events, bands and professionals from 8 invited countries (Austria, Belgium, China, Croatia, Greece, France, Italy, Spain) and 14 Romanian theaters and independent projects (Arad, Alba Iulia, Brasov, Bucharest , Constanta, Galati, Iasi, Ploiesti) - a balanced proposal of shows and related activities (workshops, conferences, book launches) addressed to children as well as adults, professionals and lovers of visual theater in general.

"We wanted a festival of intergenerational dialogue in the visual theater", an event that will help us align Romania to world trends and, at the same time, be relevant for a wider audience. Therefore, we invited both classical, collectible shows, as well as bands and pieces with innovative visions and proposals, with a word difficult to say in the discussion about what the visual theater and animation theater in the world mean. France, Croatia, Spain, Belgium - countries that give direction on the international stage of the visual theater - will be present this autumn, with troops and specialists, in Bucharest. We want this Festival to be a landmark for the difficult but absolutely necessary road that the Romanian visual and animation theater has to go on ”, says Calin Mocanu, the director of the Tandarian Animation Theater, President ASSITEJ Romania and UNIMA Romania.

As usual, the festival has three distinct sections - shows and workshops for children and young audiences, shows for adults, respectively a theoretical segment (conferences, book launches, workshops for professionals in the field of visual and animation theater). and attracts about 8500 spectators annually. As every year, the Festival opens its doors to independent projects, including four such shows.

The classic shows, of reference, but especially the brave proposals that, through the themes approached and the means of expression used, bring the theater of animation in the contemporaneity, are just a few reasons why the Bucharest people - children, amateurs of theater or visual arts and specialists in the field - must put in the program of the period November 13-23 at least a visit to the International Festival of the Animation Theater "Collection shows".

The complete program is available on the Tandarica theater website (www.teatrultandarica.ro).

The International Festival of the Animation Theater "Collection shows" 2014 enjoys the support of the City Hall of Bucharest and the Ministry of Culture and is held under the aegis of UNIMA Romania and ASSITEJ Romania. After the nine editions so far, which totaled over 500 shows, 20 invited countries and over 50,000 spectators, the International Festival of Animation Theater is already a traditional event on the cultural agenda of Bucharest. More information on past editions of the International Festival of Animation Theater can be found on the web page of the Tandarian Animation Theater, in the Festivals section.

Tandarica Theater is a landmark for the Romanian animation theater. Founded in 1945, with a time-consolidated repertoire strategy and a portfolio of titles from Romanian and universal literature that need no introduction (Pinocchio, Cinderella, Three-goat goat, Two-money bag, Pacala, The three pigs, Alladin's Lamp, the Motanul inaltat, etc.), the Tandarica Theater is permanently aiming to align the animation theater and the visual theater in Romania with the world trends.

The theater is thus constantly involved in initiatives that have the role of promoting and increasing the quality of the Romanian visual and animation theater: programs for debutant artists, the Studio Animart project (where free adaptations of classical works are played: Faust, Candid, Play Shakespeare, Golem or Galaxy Svejk) and already established international festivals - Summer Festival "Theater, Street and Child" (reached the third edition), respectively the International Festival of Animation Theater.
