Socks For Life - International Day of Prematurity in Romania
We all know that giving birth to a child is one of the most beautiful and important experiences that a mother can have and it is supposed to be a positive experience. Having a baby before term is a real trauma for every mother and every family that faces such a situation.
Worldwide, 15 million premature babies are born every year. More than 1 million of them die. As these children evolve, there is a risk of learning and behavioral disabilities, cerebral palsy, infections, cardio-respiratory diseases, diabetes, vision problems, a much higher risk of preterm birth.

Most of the time, a premature birth means big economic sacrifices and a continuous struggle with the medical system. Raising awareness of the phenomenon of prematurity is the first step in the fight with this real phenomenon, which is happening worldwide. The rate of prematurity could be significantly reduced and the medical system could develop and improve treatments for preterm infants.
Your help and support is crucial to the successful implementation of the project "Socks for life", project started for the first time in Romania by Association "One and One" and Micolino, but already enjoying visibility in 36 countries in Europe. Involving you, we will manage to raise the awareness of the wider public, to draw more attention to the problems and risks posed by the phenomenon of prematurity, and to make the initiative known in Romania.
This year, Parent Organizations across Europe invite you to get involved and take action by promoting the event dedicated to prematurity. The campaign of the socks is a campaign to be promoted throughout the year, on the Internet, in print, audiovisual and other channels.
The project "Socks for life" is launched in Romania on the occasion of the International Day of Prematurity by the Association "One and One" and Micolino and aims to bring to the attention of the public opinion prematurity, as an alarming phenomenon in an ascending slope and to contribute to carrying out an extensive information and prevention campaign.
The saddle belt (9 newborn babies and 1 preterm baby) will be displayed in as many public places, malls, bus / subway stations, office buildings, hospitals, etc., as well as windows. families with children born prematurely, in Bucharest and in big cities. Subsequently, the saddlebag will be used to raise funds for children affected by prematurity, from multiple tasks, supported by the "One and One" Association and Micolino.
The "Socks for life" campaign is already enjoying the involvement of artistic personalities who will interpret in a personal way the vision of prematurity, a support provided by the kindness of the Makeapoint Association. Thus, each arrival of the premature will be special, strong, lucky, victorious, rare, like children born before term.
